part of the region is built upon a limestone plateau
cut by deep valleys and covered with orchids and with
small white oaks.

Day 1:
Welcome in Gramat in the afternoon.
Short drive to the accommodation.
Day 2, 3 & 4 : The
Dordogne river region and its lovely paths, narrow tracks
and single tracks.

A splendid pilgrimage route will lead you through
a canyon to Rocamadour surprising site, filled with
historical tales. Crossing of a limestone plateau and its tracks &
roads surrounded by small stone fences. You may decide
to visit a cave with countless stalactites and stalagmites.
.Then
you will arrive at the beautiful upper
part of the Dordogne valley:
it is the border between
the Quercy and the Dordogne regions. Numerous treasures like medieval villages
and beautiful scenery. Shepherds' stone huts, that locals call
"Cazelles" are usually circular
in shape with a conical roof of flat stones. They have
been built from ancient times, more then 3000 years
ago!
Day
5 : from the Gramat limestone plateau to
the chestnut groove area

A giant cave but also, lovely villages,
listed as among the prettiest of France.
The chestnut groove area and
its gently sandy path.
The nice Saint-Cere is protected by the high towers
of Saint-laurent-les-tours, that are now home of Jean Lurcat painter
museum. A fortress from the middle ages and a renaissance castle ...
Day
6 & 7: the Lot and the Célé Valleys
area

Crossing of
a limestone plateau and its small trails surrounded by small stone fences.
The plateau
is an arid region with specific
flora, land of orchids and of numerous other flowers.
Time seems to have no effect on this so well preserved area ...
Then
you will arrive in the Célé
valley area and its numerous single tracks and gorgeous scenery.
The route is often outlined by the pretty limestone cliffs.
Many
lovely villages,a cave with prehistoric paintings, ancient
houses built into the cliff....

The
lovely Lot valley area : a medieval castle
on its rocky promontory, St Cirq lapopie famous
village: overlooking a bend in the Lot, the village
is perched on the edge of the cliff; the ancient houses rise up over the rocky slope
protected by the 500 years old church.
A very high but narrow castle
but also a circular medieval village and its cirque
will charm you, as well as among others, a
castle on its rocky promontory.
Figeac
is a busy small town where one can discover countless
houses and buildings from the Middle Age..
Day 8:
End
of the trip after the breakfast.
